Joliet neighborhood

Joliet is a city of 147,433 that has seen tremendous growth in recent years.  Joliet was first settled in the early 1830s and incorporated as a city in 1852.  Joliet is said to be named for Louis Jolliet, an explorer who camped in the area in 1673 while paddling the Des Plaines River with Jacques Marquette.

Joliet is a one-of-a-kind community that offers much in the way of culture and entertainment.  Downtown Joliet, nestled along the Des Plaines River, offers historic architecture, several churches, public facilities such as City Hall and the Will County Courthouse, a Metra/Amtrak rail station, Silver Cross Baseball Field (home of the minor league Joliet Slammers baseball team), Rialto Square Theater (offering regional and national entertainment), and Harrah’s Casino.  On the southern fringes of Joliet, south of I-80, are Splash Station Waterpark, Empress Casino, CPX Paintball Park, and Chicagoland Speedway (home to NASCAR races).

Windsor Ridge benefits from a location in the well-regarded Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.  Students in Windsor Ridge can easily walk to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School and Aux Sable Middle School, newer schools that are located adjacent to the northeast corner of the neighborhood.  In addition, Plainfield South High School, which opened in 2001, is located only about 5 minutes away.

For those wishing to further their education, Joliet Junior College is only 20 minutes away, while the private four-year institutions St. Francis University and Lewis University are only 25 minutes away.  In addition, all the four-year colleges and universities of Chicagoland and downstate Illinois are within easy reach, via I-80 or I-55.

Joliet’s Provena St. Joseph Medical Center offers a high level of patient care and medical services.  The 480-bed facility was recently ranked #1 in Illinois for neurosciences by HealthGrades.

For everyday convenience, Walgreens and CVS pharmacies are just minutes away on nearby Caton Farm Road.  In addition, the Route 59 corridor, only 10 minutes from Windsor Ridge, offers a plethora of stores, including Jewel-Osco, Dominick’s, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Home Goods, Aldi, Ace Hardware, Strack & Van Til, Staples, Party City, Petco, and Babies ‘R’ Us, in addition to many smaller stores, banks, restaurants, auto service centers, and more.  The regional indoor shopping mall, Westfield Louis Joliet, is only 20 minutes away.

For the recreational enthusiast, the property is just a short drive from local forest preserves & golf courses, public hunting grounds for waterfowl and deer, the Fox River, the Illinois River, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, Starved Rock State Park, and more.

In addition, the greater Joliet area is emerging as a major employment center, with significant industrial development blossoming along Interstates 55 & 80, both of which are only 10-15 minutes from Windsor Ridge.  South of Joliet, a massive “inland port” of freight rail hubs, logistics centers, and distribution facilities continues to develop, ensuring a bright economic outlook for the area.  In addition, suburban office centers along the I-88 corridor in the Naperville area are only 30 minutes away, while the Chicago Loop business district is only 46 miles northeast, and can be easily accessed via I-55 or Metra commuter rail.
